About Fishing Rods
The humble fishing rod is one of the most important tools in an angler’s arsenal. Fishing rods are available in a wide range of sizes and styles to accommodate different types of fishing. Most can be divided into two primary categories: freshwater and saltwater. Strength is the primary difference between the two, since saltwater fish tend to be larger and stronger. Most saltwater rods also incorporate corrosion-resistant materials. Freshwater rods tend to be lighter, offering more sensitivity. Within these two primary categories, fishing rods can be divided further according to fishing style. Examples include spinning rods, baitcasting rods, trolling rods, fly fishing rods and spey rods. Be sure to choose a rod weight that is appropriate for the type of fish you’ll be trying to catch. When you’re ready, check out our selection from trusted brands like Ross, Redington and Temple Fork Outfitters.
